Lord, You know I have always been an impatient person. I dislike waiting, regardless of what it is, I want it now. I realize this is un-healthy both spiritually and emotionally. But why do you so often requires to wait when you know how difficult it is? I suppose impatience is a form of not trusting you. But what can I do about it?Dear child of mine, waiting is a necessary part of walking by faith. If you never had to wait for an answer, or if you received every desire instantly, you would be self -sufficient. You need me. I created you to be dependent upon me. I want your fellowship.
Waiting causes you to lean on me,to look to me for support. Waiting stretches your faith. Waiting requires you to give up control of a portion of your life. You're relinquishing that part of yourself to my control.
What can you do to be more patient? First, keep your eyes on me. Remember, it is your desire for me, not your desire for things, that's most important in your life. I will supply, but material things are secondary.
Focus on the present, not the future. Live now. Now is my gift to you.Enjoy it.Concentrate on what you can do for your self and others today.
If your desire is of me, it will be fulfilled in my timing. your life and your circumstances are in my hand. You cannot see me at work, But I am always working in your behalf. Realize that my requiring you to wait for me to act is part of my discipline for you.
Waiting in anxiety will drain you of strength. Have you noticed when you wait anxiously how the enemy tempts you to doubt my faithfulness? Next you start to worry about the outcome of your hopes. After that the enemy accuses you of anything you allow him to.
Waiting in trust will energize you. Waiting can help you look at things from my perspective. Your security is in me, not in the out come of your dreams. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised" (Hebrews 10:35,36).
