Reflecting Image

The blue heron stood motionless in the pond. His image was reflected picture perfect. Not a breath was stirring, and the trees that surround him were also reflected in the stillness of the pond, right down to the moss hanging from the low lying branches. The bird flew away, and the image was lost. Would there be a reflection of trees if they were removed? Of course not!

Each morning I apply make up, fix my hair and check my over all appearance in a mirror. Jimmie looks at his reflection as he shaves each day. But once we walk away from that mirror, our reflection does not stay there. That mirror image has no life apart from us.

As Christians, we are the reflection of God. That is really an awesome thought! It tells us in the Bible- in Genisis 1:26-28, that we have been created in His likeness. God said, " Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.". As we live and grow in the Christian faith we are reminded it was He who created us, sustains us and maintains life, and apart from Him there really is no life.

Take time today to look into the mirror of your spirit and ask yourself if you are a reflection of God. Are you reflecting His image to those around you? He wants His light and love to so shine through you that there would be no mistaking whom your life is reflecting.
