Jesus had a little lamb
Jesus had a little lamb
Who wandered from the fold.
He stayed away so very long
His heart grew strangely cold.
I remember when with heart ablaze
His spirit was quite strong.
It seems so sad the fire was quenched.
0 little lamb, where did you go wrong?
He used to graze the fertile fields
Of God's own Holy Word;
Telling others of their need
Of Jesus Christ the Lord.
With hearts of love through many tears
The Savior we beseeched.
And from the throne we heard Him cry,
"My lamb! He must be reached!"
We cried out long and earnestly
In hopes the lamb would hear.
The Spirit spoke so plainly,
"The 'Day' grows very near."
Soon the trumpet will be heard
By all who claim His Name.
Will Jesus' lamb jump for joy
Or will he shrink in shame?
To the Savior you must turn.
Away with lesser things!
Peace and joy, abundant life
Your return will bring.
